Velocity Legal has donated $8,109.87 to Dementia Australia as part of our annual giving initiative.
Each year, our team nominates and votes on a charity to receive a portion of the firm’s profits. This tradition gives our people a say in the causes we support and allows us to share our success with the wider community.
This year, we are pleased to contribute to Dementia Australia’s work supporting people living with dementia, their families and carers.
Dementia Australia provides information, advice and services to help people navigate life with dementia, whether they are seeking guidance following a diagnosis, caring for someone or looking to better understand the support available.
Its National Dementia Helpline offers free, confidential information, advice and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The organisation also provides peer support opportunities and education sessions, helping people access practical guidance and connect with others who have shared experiences.
Having somewhere to turn with questions can make a meaningful difference. For people living with dementia and those supporting them, access to reliable information and an ongoing source of support can help them approach unfamiliar decisions with greater confidence.
Dementia Australia’s work also extends to the broader community. Through awareness initiatives, advocacy and its Dementia-Friendly Communities program, it works to improve understanding and create communities where people living with dementia feel included and supported.
It also offers education and professional development for people working in dementia care. Alongside this work, the Dementia Australia Research Foundation funds new and early-career researchers exploring ways to improve dementia diagnosis, treatment and support.
Our annual donation is one way we contribute beyond our day-to-day legal work. Having our team help choose the recipient keeps this commitment connected to the causes that matter to our people. We are proud to support Dementia Australia and its work with people, families and communities across the country.
Thank you to our clients, colleagues and professional partners for their continued support, which makes contributions like this possible. To learn more about Dementia Australia’s work or make a donation, visit dementia.org.au.
